Today new writer for ZWrestleTalk Lorenzo Garcia takes on the on going question of "Is the Divas Division fixable?" THE STATE OF THE DIVAS DIVISION. IS IT FIXABLE?
As I write this, the Women Wrestlers have not become what many WWE fans have hoped for to be ever since the day Trish and Lita left WWE, along with others like Mickie James. The term "Women's Division" seems to leave Vince McMahon's mind completely and thats already a problem. Vince McMahon now labels the women as Divas and could not be even more of a unsuitable term for them. Before the 2010's came along, it was no longer about actual wrestling matches or even scouting the best women wrestlers on the indies to showcase them on RAW/SmackDown, it was about just seeing if you were gorgeous enough to be put out there on the show and being involved in these ridiculous gimmick matches such as Bra's & Panties matches especially and even the Divas Search hiring women like Ashley Massaro, Candice Michelle and others who were not even very good at all. It made the fans not care and change their mentality into they are only used for looking hot and end there. Now, how could it be fixed and get the Women's Division back to the relevancy many WWE fans would like to see? First, STOP CALLING IT THE DIVA'S DIVISION. None of the girls in WWE main roster or NXT are WRESTLERS. Second, change the look of Diva's Title. The butterfly design is not appealing anymore and has been criticize by fans as arguably the worse belt in WWE history. Thirdly, and it may not sound the more popular opinion, but Total Divas needs to be cancelled for the fact being that this show is not getting these women over at all in terms of the attitude of what professional wrestling is. Yes, it is a good show to the lots of the general public, but to the wrestling fans, its not quite favorable. And the most important way to get the Division back to relevancy is focusing on giving these women logical storylines and booking so correctly. You have women now on the Main Roster who can actually go. You have women like Sasha Banks who will be a major player if booked right that has the total package and can become the face of that Division for many, many years. Charlotte, who like her father is so good in the ring. Becky Lynch who could be a star in that division that can work too and then you have other girls in the main roster like Naomi, Natalya, Alicia Fox, Paige, amd even Emma who are talented workers. There are others on this roster that just dont seem to really click or possess such move sets that are not favorable. Lana to become equal to Sunny in her hay day did not work out. It became bad booking that stopped it from even being possible. AJ Lee did her part to try and help out get the division relevant, but she is now gone. This "Divas Revolution" is not what it sounds like ever since it was brought up. To finish up here, if you really want to have make this "revolution", have them main event a RAW and if you want to step one up, a PPV. The last time we had women main event a RAW was ten years ago with Trish vs Lita that really didn't disappoint the fans. As for the Diva's title, with Nikki Bella most likely breaking AJ Lee's reign, she should not be the woman to break the record. Sure she has improved, but someone else needs to have that spot. Sasha Banks? Charlotte? One of those girls wouldve been a better option beating, but it needs to be booked right and the storyline has to be so great to have the fans buy into it and believe it since a reign like that means something. In the end, it begins with good booking that can revive this division and maybe someone else that actually cares and that matters to them that needs to be in charge of that company to revive it. Maybe someone with a sledgehammer? Follow Lorenzo Garcia on Twitter @Renz559 Triple Z Editor Note: Hope you guys enjoyed Lorenzo's piece like I did. Starts off with the ten bell salute, and then into a emotional video package. Jim Ross is now speaking on how this will be a special episode.
Mick Foley: Foley is speaking about how his son's favorite wrestler was Owen Hart, also how Mick would call him Nugget. Foley said if his son turned out like Owen Hart he would be super proud. JBL: Bradshaw back then was talking about how "Cheap" Owen Hart was. Owen Hart wanted to retire early to spend time with his family. Bradshaw hopes that Owen's kids will grow up realizing they had a terrific father. Test VS Jeff Jarrett The now CEO of GFW gets some assistance from his manager Debra, and pulls off a sharpshooter to put away Test in a fairly quick match. Mark Henry Henry hits a dramatic poem, saying that you get a burn when you cry. Henry is sobbing during his tribute to Owen. Droz Former WWE talent Droz and he was talking about how Owen would entertain the locker room. Droz calls him "One of the best guys around". Droz says he will never forget Owen Hart. X-PAC and KANE VS The Brood This is for the tag team titles. Edge,Gangrel, and Christian. Edge and Gangrel will be fighting for The Brood. X-Pac and Edge are exchanging some serious offense right now. Kane and Gangrel are now in the ring to start brawling. Kane and X-Pac take control of the match and they get the win. All the matches will most likely be short due to the tribute. Triple H and Chyna Oh my look its that psychopath Chyna and the COO Triple H, Chyna goes on to say for someone that makes people laugh he is making a lot of people cry tonight. Triple H is currently bawling right now lets see what he has to say. HHH is now heavily breathing, he says that when you saw everyone at their worse. Owen was always at his best to make you laugh or make you mad. Triple H says that "Owen will always be his friend". Dave Hebner Son of Earl Hebner. Now he's just talking about how caring Owen Hart was. Hardy Boyz w/ Micheal Hayes VS Taka Michonuku and Funaki Taka and Funaki have nice teamwork out of the gate. Jeff just did a somersault flip onto Taka. The match had high impact but once again was very short with the Hardy Boyz coming out on top. Bruce Pritchard "Owen was a great joker and performer and he provided entertainment for people inside the ring and outside the ring, and he will be missed"- Bruce Pritchard, his speech for me has been 2nd next to Foley he really expressed what he was like. Goldust Starts telling a story, about how they were at Harley Race's house. Owen Hart poured hot sauce into Harley's chili and Harley ran to get his stun gun and Owen started running around and his own prank almost backfired. Hardcore Holly VS Ken Shamrock "The World's Most Dangerous Man" is about to take on Hardcore Holly. Commentators are sounding like Holly isn't good enough to hang with Shamrock. Holly has been hanging with Shamrock so far. This might be the longest match of the night. Oh…wait no Shamrock put Holly in the ankle lock and Holly immediately taps, wow I really thought this would be a long contest. Ron Simmons: "It's hard to put this in words" and Ron Simmons says that he will miss him. Test Telling a story about Owen in Chicago. That he received a phone call, saying should we cancel the show and Owen was behind the other line and Test didn't know that until a day before his death. Billy Gunn VS Mankind Billy Gunn starts off by saying "If your not down with Owen Hart I go two words for ya!" The crowd shouts "Suck IT" back. The match starts off with high velocity, Billy Gunn currently is in control of the match. Mankind has Mr. Socko ready and Billy Gunn has a chair. Mankind wins by count out and this was another short uneventful match. Mankind is now saying "Owen Hart this one is for you!!" Jeff Jarrett "You have many co workers in this business and you have a few friends and Owen was one of his friends" and Jarrett continues to say "You look at it selfishly I lost my buddy, and Owen Hart had integrity and I saw him more than my wife." Owen Hart's kid will get to know him through old tapes of him wrestling, and I hope they realize they had a great dad. Edge "Leader of the Canadian Mafia" and Edge is talking about his match with Owen Hart. Which would become Owen Hart's last match. APA VS D-Lo Brown and Mark Henry Farooq just hit an epic DDT on D-Lo. The match continues and then Bradshaw hits Farooq in his face, and D-Lo steals the victory. Pat Patterson "Owen was a marvelous person and he was a pleasure" and he continues to say "He's never met a person that didn't like Owen Hart". Hardcore Holly "Owen always made you laugh, and he was a big ribber" The Godfather VS Road Dogg Road Dogg hits a "Owen Hart" promo in only the style he could pull it off. Godfather comes out with the Hoe Train. Godfather says "Road Dogg lets go to Downtown and party with my hoes!!!" and Road Dogg agrees "Let's go tell some Owen stories!" Paul Bearer Just read a emotional poem. X-Pac "Funniest guy I ever met" and "One of the best guys ever in the ring." Triple H VS AL SNOW First time meeting between these two. This is not for the Hardcore Championship. High knee just caught Al Snow. Triple H is now landing punches. Triple H is giving Al Snow an absolute beating. The tables have turned Al Snow now in control. Snow is looking for the moonsault. Snow barely misses. This leads into a pedigree and Triple H wins. Road Dogg " I will be praying for your family this might be too soon to talk to me about Owen." Gerald Brisco Owen was a phenomenal worker and he put a smile on everybody's face. Big Show VS Blue Meanie and Goldust Big Show does to monstrous choke slams and puts the two bizarre ones to bed. Debra "I spent a lot of time traveling with Owen, and the world loss a great person and no matter if it was a good day or a bad day he would always be cheery, and you do take people for granite and life is very precious and never take people for granite and Owen has brighten my day and I will definitely miss you." Shane McMahon "Owen Hart was the ultimate prankster, and one day we did a prank to him and he got us back big." Match starts quick and The Rock hits a "People's Elbow" to finish off another short match. Stone Cold To end the night here comes out the "Texas Rattlesnake" and he will be doing a beer toast to Owen Hart. Take Aways
Follow @TripleZ_87 @ZWrestleTalk Triple Z takes a look at ECW One Night Stand 2005 and gives each match a ranking out of 5. All part of a new original ZWrestleTalk series called "Network Classics" Lance Storm VS Chris Jericho
I like how Chris Jericho came out as "The Lion Heart" and the show feels like a time warp. Feels like I'm watching original ECW. Overall this was a good match seeing Lance Storm win is pretty interesting and him reuniting with the "Impact Players" was exciting for the hardcore audience. 2 out of 5 Super Crazy VS Tajiri VS Little Guido Just a fantastic match. I think Tajiri is hilarious from a character standpoint. Super Crazy is phenomenal talent. The moon-salt off the balcony was epic. Little Guido was a comedy act for me. Tajiri VS Super Crazy was the key highlight for me. I like ECW's 3 Way Dance concept. WWE should try to implement that again. 4 out of 5 Psicosis VS Rey Mysterio Psicosis coming out in his old mask was such a nostalgia move. Though Psicosis taking off the mask was a thing I didn't like nor did the audience. Psicosis wasn't used in WWE really. Wasn't like their early classics in ECW but it was good enough. WWE needs a Cruiserweight Division again, they are really lacking in fast pace exciting action. 3 out of 5 Sabu VS Rhyno What a innovator and extremist SABU is. The guy can do a lot of insane moves. Rhyno playing the heel after attacking RVD. Bill Alfonso keeps on blowing his whistle during this match. Sabu ends the match with putting Rhyno through a table. Overall really good match. 4 out of 5 Eddie Guerrero VS Chris Benoit Very interesting match, and also very sad knowing that both of these guys are dead. Many off the top rope maneuvers. Chris Benoit is currently taking Guerrero to Suplex City. Jeez, how many Germans can this man do. Benoit is a fascinating wrestler its sad his accomplishments will never get recognized. Benoit right now has locked in the Crossface which looks like a very deadly submission. Tremendous performance! 4 out of 5 Mike Awesome VS Masato Tanaka Joey Styles is fired up at Mike Awesome. This event has been fantastic so far! Tanaka is a strong style and Awesome is more of a powerhouse hybrid style. These two know each other real well. "OH MY GAWWWWWD" that was one ugly "Awesome Bomb". Tanaka almost broke his neck. WCW counterparts in the audience like Eric Bischoff is probably hoping for a "WCW One Night Stand". This match is lacking logic Tanaka should be the winner by now. That's it what an Awesome Bomb! Oh my gosh how did Tanaka kick out?!?!?! WWE guys in the balcony are breaking character thats how good this match is. This might get a 5 out of 5! This match rules! Absolute carnage and interesting that Mike Awesome went over at a "ECW" event! Easily the "Show Stealer" 5 out of 5 The Dudley Boyz VS Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman "The last hurrah" who would of ever thought that. This isn't a rivalry match obviously. bWo is here and they are taking over what a coincidence. bWo is here but what are they doing this match? Richards grabs the mic. He's giving a promo directed towards Eric Bischoff. The very man who inspired the parody. Kid Kash is Mr.TNA what is going on… "Total Nonstop Attitude" wow that is hilarious. Especially because TNA was around during this time. Balls Mahoney and Axl Rotten are now out here swinging their chairs. Kid Kash hits a suicide front flip outside on to all of the wrestlers. The match has now started. Tommy is now bleeding. This is reminding me of why WWE doesn't show blood! The blood adds legitimacy to the match. Sandman is not a very good wrestler so his input on this match could be very interesting. Sandman hits a flip onto a ladder, Sandman must be on some heavy drugs for the stuff he has been doing! Bubba Ray hits a frog splash! That was a unique move to add into his arsenal. D-Von just had a mishap, leading into figure four leg locks from Tommy Dreamer and Sandman. The Impact Players have just made a impact. Bloody Dreamer is now hugging Beulah. The crowd is chanting "She's Hardcore". I wish Joey Styles was on commentating wrestling again, what an exciting voice! Spike Dudley is now heading to the ring. They are going to light the table on fire… Tommy is now oozing blood. This is an epic ending. Match is currently over with Dudley Boyz standing tall. Wait a minute the glass just broke. Stone Cold Steve Austin is here in ECW. Stone Cold was a ECW Alumni even though he was there for a short time. An ECW VS WWE battle lets do this!!! The event ends in chaos of course. Match 4 out of 5 Author's Note: Looking back at this PPV reminds me of a couple of things.
Hope you enjoyed the new series called "Network Classics" and sorry to my audience for not being able to blog!
