ZWrestleTalk's Triple Z gives his predictions and analysis for WWE's new year. Jeff Hardy VS Randy OrtonJeff Hardy is looking to once again dominate the blue brand. This match is straight out of 2008. I say Hardy will squeak a victory that allows Orton to "rethink" his current status in the WWE. Heel turn is necessary. Winner: Jeff Hardy Nia Jax VS Alexa BlissNia Jax will continue her reign as champion. I don't see her losing for awhile. Until maybe a Sasha Banks or Bayley re-emerges. Everything will be set up for the eventual crowning of Ronda Rousey. Winner: Nia Jax Seth Rollins VS The MizI don't see a title change happening here. Seth Rollins will retain his title. The Miz will continue to wait for Daniel Bryan on SmackDown. It would be kinda nice if the the most anticipated feud of the summer just got kick started tonight. As for Rollins, he may get tossed into a simple feud with Finn Balor. Rollins will look to defend the prestige of the title on a weaker RAW roster. Winner: Seth Rollins Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman VS Kevin Owens and Sami ZaynThanks to Montreal, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens look to reclaim their "elite" status within WWE. Both guys were thought as the future but it seems they are not getting the right breaks. Tonight the heel duo will battle Bobby Lashley, who was a refugee of The Land of Impact and WWE Greatest Royal Rumble winner Braun Strowman. No way the latter is losing this match. Owens and Zayn continue to diminish. Winners: Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman Daniel Bryan VS Big CassI wish we didn't have co-branded pay-per-views because SmackDown would put on stellar events. The reason we probably have co-branded events other than it's just smarter business. WWE probably didn't have the confidence in RAW to carry a whole PPV (Especially with their champion Brock Lesnar being missing until SummerSlam). Maybe they came to that realization with the old SmackDown. Less PPV means they become more special in hindsight. Anyways we get blessed with the return of Daniel Bryan just to get him inserted into a feud with Big Cass. Beyond frustrating to see this happen. If we have Daniel Bryan on borrowed time this is a tragic way to use it. I don't even think he will win tonight just because Big Cass is what WWE wants now. Hopefully this is a easy out of a feud, and we can get Daniel Bryan moving on to The Miz. Winner: Big Cass Carmella VS Charlotte FlairIt would be nice to see Carmella's reign continue. Although WWE does love Charlotte Flair. It may pain them to have her take a loss. Realistically, Carmella needs to be set on her own path without the shadow of Charlotte following her. Flair is already a six time champion. There is so much talent in that Women's division it's time others have a shot to catch up. Carmella should pull it off despite my hesitation. Sidenote: Wish Iconic Duo was on the official card. Winner: Carmella AJ Styles VS Shinsuke NakamuraTwo words. LOW BLOW. That's all I'm giving you for this one. Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura Roman Reigns VS Samoa JoeThis seriously shouldn't be the main event. If it is I expect Samoa Joe to get a nice win before heading to SmackDown full time. This obviously would set up a "Roman Redemption" arc. Something that has potential to very good or very ugly. Winner: Samoa Joe Backlash looks like a lazy, unimaginative card. It's not the way you would want to kick off your new season. I hope I'm wrong but you can tell by this breakdown. Not much is exciting after the shake-up. If WWE is able to kickstart a few things. My tune could change.
